Unfortunately many people eqaute "...Hi Makarios
Unfortunately many people eqaute "Celtic" with what we refer to as the "Plastic Paddy" syndrome. There was a time when Irishness meant stupid then came Riverdance and it was suddenly popular and fashionable to be Irish or Celtic. Now the 'Celtic Tiger' is dead (good riddance) we can get back to normal. My overview is extremely simplistic but I'm glad you found it of interest. As for enjoying the summer, I'm having a nice relaxing time, yesterday was spent baking scones to go with the plum jam I made the day before, planting a new rose, and playing my banjo and all to the sound of KILA. It doesn't get much better than that. Today its raining and windy but I have the woodburning stove on and a good book so I'm happy. Hope you are well and keep smiling.SilentOwlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02840406804609589655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4653272143829268711.post-89131570432627144922011-08-18T16:48:31.394-07:002011-08-18T16:48:31.394-07:00Thanks for this very good overview. On this side o...Thanks for this very good overview. On this side of the Pond, the term "Celtic" is egregiously misused and abused. There are some people who would refer to Rule Britannia as "Celtic music" if it were accompanied by a fiddle, a flute, and a drum. When they hear the real thing (Nóirín Ní Riain, for example), they're flabbergasted.

I do hope that you're enjoying the summer, and taking a well-deserved break from your academics.

Regards,

MakMakarioshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08392249532355639518noreply@blogger.com
